Mille-Feuille with Autumn Fruits - Vegetarian
The Mille-Feuille with Autumn Fruits combines the elegance of French pastry with the rich, comforting flavors of fall. With layers of flaky puff pastry, a medley of caramelized seasonal fruits, and a generous dollop of whipped cream, this dessert is a visual and culinary masterpiece.
Ingrédients
- 1 lb puff pastry
- 2 cups mixed autumn fruits (such as pears, apples, plums)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons almond flakes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into equal-sized rectangles.
- Place the pastry rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Prick each piece with a fork to prevent them from puffing up excessively.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Set aside to cool.
- Meanwhile, peel, core, and slice the autumn fruits into thin wedges.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the autumn fruits and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the fruits are slightly caramelized and tender.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- To assemble, spread a layer of whipped cream on one piece of puff pastry, top with caramelized autumn fruits, and place another piece of puff pastry on top. Repeat the layers as desired.
- Finish with a dusting of powdered sugar and garnish with almond flakes.
