The Mille-Feuille with Autumn Fruits combines the elegance of French pastry with the rich, comforting flavors of fall. With layers of flaky puff pastry, a medley of caramelized seasonal fruits, and a generous dollop of whipped cream, this dessert is a visual and culinary masterpiece.
2cupsmixed autumn fruits (such as pears, apples, plums)
1/4cupbrown sugar
2tablespoonsbutter
1teaspooncinnamon
1/4cupheavy cream
1/2teaspoonvanilla extract
1/4cuppowdered sugar
2tablespoonsalmond flakes
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into equal-sized rectangles.
Place the pastry rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Prick each piece with a fork to prevent them from puffing up excessively.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, peel, core, and slice the autumn fruits into thin wedges.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the autumn fruits and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the fruits are slightly caramelized and tender.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
To assemble, spread a layer of whipped cream on one piece of puff pastry, top with caramelized autumn fruits, and place another piece of puff pastry on top. Repeat the layers as desired.
Finish with a dusting of powdered sugar and garnish with almond flakes.
