The Blood Orange Panna Cotta is a symphony of textures and flavors that promises a delightful end to any meal. This smooth and creamy Italian dessert is enhanced by the vibrant, tangy sweetness of blood orange syrup, making each spoonful a perfect balance of richness and zest.
Ingrédients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 ounce unflavored gelatin
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 cup blood orange juice
- 1 tablespoon blood orange zest
- 1/4 cup sugar (for orange syrup)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not let the mixture boil.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the water and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
- After the gelatin has bloomed, heat it gently until it is fully melted. Stir the melted gelatin into the cream mixture until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into serving glasses or molds. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
- While the panna cotta is setting, prepare the blood orange syrup. In a small saucepan, combine the blood orange juice, zest, and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook until the mixture has thickened slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Once the panna cotta has set, pour the cooled blood orange syrup over each panna cotta just before serving.
