  • 1 cup water
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring water, butter, and salt to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat to low and add flour all at once, stirring vigorously until the mixture forms a ball, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Spoon or pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheet in small mounds.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Allow to cool completely.
  • For the filling, whip 1 cup heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Fill the cooled profiteroles with the whipped cream.
  • For the chocolate sauce, heat 1/2 cup heavy cream until simmering and pour over the chocolate chips. Let sit for 2 minutes and then stir until smooth.
  • Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the filled profiteroles and serve immediately.
