Ingrédients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 8 ounces ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth and shiny.
- Using a spoon or a piping bag, drop or pipe small mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the profiteroles are puffed and golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool.
- While the profiteroles cool, make the hot chocolate sauce. Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
- Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate, stirring until the chocolate is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Stir in the sugar and vanilla extract until well combined.
- To serve, cut the profiteroles in half and fill with whipped cream or ice cream if desired. Drizzle with hot chocolate sauce and enjoy!
